2:07 am
from nbc news, this is "today" with kathie lee gifford and hoda kotb, live from studio 1a in rockefeller plaza. >> hello, everybody. it is booze day, tuesday.
2:08 am
tuesday. that means cheap thrills by -- how do you pronounce her name? >> sia! and in our kitchen is the always fun, debra messing. debra is not just hanging around the kitchen doing nothing, she's live tweeting our chat. what is your handle? >> @debramessing. >> it is very creative. >> i like the picture you use on twitter, you're looking down or -- i can't remember. but i like it. >> is it provocative? >> i don't know. >> naughty. >> it is like that. that's what you got going. >> then we're going to be cooking up something in the kitchen too. i see a naked chicken. >> absolutely. >> what are we cooking? >> sage roasted chicken, five ingredients, though. so easy. >> the best roasted chicken of all time. >> of all time. >> so he says. >> that's what joel says. >> all right. >> all righty, we're going to
2:09 am
because we had one last week. bryson chance, his middle school turned him into a youtube star. and he's getting everyone's attention from ellen and lady gaga and now he has new music. >> we have a headline from yesterday's show. you may have missed this. if you did, i want you to please fix your eyes on what happened. at the end of our show, kathie lee dropped her robe and it was quite a moment. >> it was my favorite thing. >> it was her favorite thing. so i think we have that and look what's happening. >> yes! >> go, girl. >> oh, my god. you look good. >> you do look good. >> kath, look at your bod. looks good. >> that's really kathie lee's bod. >> who cares. >> people care. people cared! [ cheers and applause ] >> you guys, you guys are not a cross section of america. you're all perverts and you know
2:10 am
debra messing is the biggest pervert of all. >> that's why we love her. >> there's something far more important and this is what i took a picture of yesterday, everybody. feast your eyes upon this. something wonderful is happening how wonderful is spring spring, spring >> this is what ihoda feels like in reverse. >> liz callaway singing "spring." a song david freedman and i wrote. she's gloriously talented. >> but to see a crocus, are they drunk? >> not yet. not yet. not even a lip mark. >> maybe one from yesterday. but, anyway, gosh, it makes your heart sing, just to see the first sign. >> that's a crocus. >> so eva longoria did something really funny yesterday. i don't know if you know but it has been 20 years since the spice girls first started out. eva longoria did something with
2:11 am
their hit song wanna-be. she didn't do it as a singer, she did it as a telenovela soap opera character. maybe it is disturbing. maybe you'll like it. take a look. >> what i really, really want. tell me what you want. what you really, really want. i want a hat. i want a hat. i want a hat. i want really, really, really want a zigga. [ laughter ] >> those brilliant lyrics still hold up. >> tell me what you want, what you really, really want. >> that's a good one. >> another sweet picture from jennifer lopez. she posted this picture on instra gram of her -- instagram of her twins, now 8 years old. >> it is her birthday and she captioned it, happy birthday to the light of my life. i remember i was at her concert in vegas and her kids were there and very provocative portion of the show.
2:12 am
her mom grabbed one of the kids and shoved the kid's face into her bosom so she couldn't see. and then the other one did the other one so they couldn't see >> what was mom doing? >> it was really good. >> bosom. >> did you tweet that? >> yes. what's going on? where are the tweets? are we seeing them on the screen? is that what's supposed to be happening. if they're not porno, we're going to post them. all right, debra, they're not pornish. >> are they drunk? >> that's old. we already saw that. that was three minutes ago. that's why it is called tweet. we go one after the other. >> there is a ceo, has a test, an employee test. we spoke about office -- thomas farley yesterday. >> the guy comes in and he says he hires potential employees and he does this every time. he brings them to breakfast. guy works at charles schwab. he brings them to breakfast and
2:13 am
order badly. >> do something to their food. do something. and then he's going to watch how they react. and that will help him decide if he's going to hire them. if they have good character. or what they do. >> you and i talked about this. if you're sitting across from the ceo of a major company that you want to work for, you're going to try to impress that person with everything in you. and i think you're going to be on your best behavior even if they bring you a slop of junk, you know? >> i would eat whatever. >> you'd eat every bite of it. i wouldn't do it but i would nicely ask them that they got my order wrong. >> i think you're right. i don't think you would react the right way. i think if they ruined my meal and i was on a job interview, i would just push it all around like -- >> what would you do, laura, mysteries of? >> i would go in the kitchen and find out who did it. >> you are a detective.
2:14 am
>> yes, you would. >> all righty. okay. >> they also say you can also find out a lot about -- if you're going on a date, they say if you pay attention to a guy on a date, on a date with him, you'll learn a lot about him. how he treats the waitress, is he polite, does he get up when you have to leave the table, how does he tip? >> can we please get on to the bachelor? >> yes. >> time for "the bachelor". >> do you watch "the bachelor"? >> i don't. i used to. >> i love that show. >> the update. >> an emotional night last night. really was. i have to say. i didn't sleep much. >> why? >> it was emotional. the hometown date, so ben goes to the final four girls' homes, meets the families, talks to the parents and siblings, so it can go really good or really, really bad. let's talk about jojo's time and how -- we do like jojo, she's great. her brothers are extremely protective of their sister and brought up good points. let's take a look at what they said. >> i'm going to put this in perspective. you've been on two dates with
2:15 am
i love you. but how can you fall in love with someone who you've only been on two dates with. >> i've been on many dates with him. >> you just said two single dates. >> right, but in the group dates, we have time alone with him. >> talking to you we see how emotionally invested you are in it. my read is he's not as emotionally invested in it as you are. to see my sister like that after two dates, you're put in a position of you're desired by a lot of girls, psychologically that makes them all want you. you know, you've been on the other side a little bit. so to see our sister get a little more emotional than i would like, you know. >> only thing i would ask is that you're truthful in all your answers. >> i feel like i was honest with the brothers. i never told them anything tonight that was fake or false. >> he's not going to pick her. i love those brothers. >> yeah. i love those brothers. >> i feel bad for jojo because
2:16 am
ruined her chances. >> no. >> i'm just saying. kind of ruined her chances. let's move on. sorry. so this is the date that went really well. lauren. i think she's a front-runner in the competition. so let's take a look at it. >> okay. >> you think that, like, you and ben are compatible, truly, like your personalities? >> are you asking if i'm in love with ben? >> well, yes. >> i feel like ben's, like, my person. it is crazy. it is insane. i was meant to meet ben. i'm definitely in love with him. 100%. >> what makes her stand out to you? >> there is something about your sister that is, like, i can't put words to. i don't know. i feel really lucky. >> mm-hmm. >> i do.
2:17 am
sorry. >> you answered my question. don't cry. >> yeah. he's been crying a lot. >> he has? >> yeah. >> that wasn't the first -- >> that was the first, like, big cry, you saw tears but he gets choked up. it is going to be a rough road. >> you want a guy that cries had -- when his dog of 15 years dies. something, you know? >> he expresses his love for lauren. it is all real. >> can i tell you one thing, in "dateline," they tell you if the person looks down and left, they're not telling the truth. i was looking at that. i'm sorry. >> is there more? >> amanda, her date went really well. she's the only one with kids. it is cute. ben met the little kids, but she was sent home in the end. it was bad.
2:18 am
time and he sends her away at the rose ceremony. >> children aren't invested. >> i know, but why meet the kids if you knew you were going to cut her? she cried in the car. he cried. >> he cried? >> he cried again. he's not going to make it in the next episode. because we're down to three left. it is lauren, jo jo and kayla. >> here they are. those are the top three. >> i'm going with -- he's going to pick the middle one. >> lauren. >> the one who he was crying about. >> debra, what do you think? >> the blonde. >> the blonde? >> what do you think, kath? pick one of the other two. pick the other one. >> jojo. >> at least you'll remember her name. >> anyway, next week -- >> amanda, i'm going to continue to pray for you. >> all right. hoda's favorite day of the week, spanky tuesday. >> don't miss all the fun we have when we give it away. >> more fun to come with the mysterious debra messing.

2:51 am
just beautiful, beautiful stories about how god ministered to them and provided hope and healing. >> it is interesting, as a young girl, how you said your dad would go to a hospital room. you went along and were an observer for a while, you realized -- realized what that could be like. >> he did -- he would take me to visit his patients and i would see when he ministered -- absolutely, because they would just -- the spark of hope would come out, with his compassionate spirit. and he would be in the moment with them. and i saw that from very beginning. >> why do you think people are afraid to talk about -- to say, i think this happened to me? >> there is a lot of judgment in our world about, oh, you know, i don't know what she's doing, or -- but there's -- our world likes to say that it's the realm of imagination. but in reality, heaven is pressing into us and speaking to us, trying to, you know, god is
